Part/Full-Time Intermediate/Expert Front-end Web & Landing Page Designer for Marketing Agency

Dear Virtual Latinos,

We’re looking to hire 1 VA in the next 7 days through this job that the Virtual Latinos Agency is publishing on behalf of a new client.

Client & Short Job Description:

The client is a marketing agency in Chicago, who works with a lot of B2B clients. Most of them are tech-oriented, finance-oriented clients. The team is made up of about 20 employees, all located in Chicago. Currently, they are all working remotely, and now see the opportunity to hire more people remotely. Main clients are US-based, primarily in the mid-west. Clients range from small local businesses to international clients, probably dealing with 20-40 clients per month on an ongoing basis. The company has been around for about 20 years.

The client is looking for a tech-savvy VA who is very organized and self-motivated. See more “Ideal Requirements” below.

The client is currently using this system:
– WordPress
– PhotoShop
– Illustrator
– Sketch (mobile-app)
– Unbounce
– Divi
– Elementor
– Contact Form 7
– SharpSpring CRM
– Marketo
– Mailchimp
– Constant Contact

DEADLINE TO APPLY: You must apply by Wednesday, July 8th at 10 am PT. Our team will set up interviews for the selected candidates for July 9th, 2020.

Tasks required for the job

1. Design Mockups/Layouts for Preliminary Designs
– Building drafts of designs for email marketing, landing pages, and websites within 24 hours (simple layouts).
– Mockups ideally would be done directly on WordPress, which could later be converted into a real website/page.
– A lot of their existing design team does mockups in PhotoShop and Illustrator, as well as Sketch (mobile-app focused design software), ideally looking for a web designer who knows how to use PhotoShop/Illustrator (but NOT required) in order to edit/design these mockups/layouts/wire-frames as needed.
– Generally speaking, for web-site they request multiple mockups (At least 3 different versions), for E-mails mockups usually is just one design and then edit as needed, as for landing pages typically 1-2 layouts/styles of sites (depending on time-frames).
– The company generally wants the final mockups in either JPG, PDF or a live website on a temporary domain/URL
– To get an idea of the workload, this is what the client needs: 1 website design mockup/month, 2-3 landing page mockups per week, and 3-4 email layouts per week.

2. Landing Pages Design
– The client is shifting from designing directly on a platform like Unbounce and is now designing landing pages directly on WordPress.
– Currently using the Divi platform/template to design pages, but are also open to using the Elementor visual designer.
– They also use the core-builder of the latest WordPress designer.
– Generally speaking, a landing page is just made up of 2 pages, the main page, and the “thank you” page.
– The client integrates various online forms, using “Contact Form 7” as well as 3rd party forms from CRMs, such as the SharpSpring CRM form.
– The client does a lot of tracking and analytics, so the web designer VA would need to know how to insert code, including the use of UTM parameters, etc.
– The landing pages should also be tracked with Google Analytics, Hubspot, Facebook Pixel, etc. Depending on their client.

3. Full Website Design & Development (Front-end)
– Their clients usually look for wireframes and concepts that the agency pitches to them, and then they approve them so the agency gets hired and kickstart the actual work and development.
– In most cases (95% or more), the client will build all websites using WordPress. Once in a while, they use Marketo’s built-in platforms for landing pages/web pages (but not much).
– On average, the websites the company builds are 15-20 pages (not including blog content), plus the blog content.
– When displaying a proposal to clients, the company usually presents 4 pages (Homepage, and 3 other informational pages). They create a main “Template” for the main homepage and other pages and then build other pages based on that design/template.
– In terms of time-frame, it depends on the project, but ideally, a website project should be completed in 3-4 weeks assuming all the content is ready.
– In some cases, the designer will need to build the website with fake “Lorem Ipsum” text, so their client can see a visual design even without the final content.

4. E-mail Templates Design & Publishing
– The client is heavily invested in using their client’s SharpSpring CRM. Thus, most of the email templates they design are build on SharpSpring.
– They would also like to be able to build the emails in HTML/CSS and then import those templates into SharpSpring.
– They use Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and Marketo. Looking for a web designer who can work with ALL platforms, and easily jump from one platform/CRM to the other.
– Knowledge of HTML, CSS is a must. But most importantly, about how to use the “Building blocks” or built-in tools to easily design/customize an email template from one of these platforms that have/offer a “What you see is what you get” design-builder.
– It’s VERY important that the web designer VA ensure that emails are properly displayed in all email platforms such as Gmail, Yahoo, etc, as well as that they’re optimized for mobile versions.
– Also looking for super simple text-based emails, that are “Plain emails” that look more authentic as if coming from a real person, even if automated.
– NO writing is required, all content will be provided by the client.
– The client DOES have a content team that writes and edits all necessary content to be used on all work/projects.

5. Quality Control Testing
– Making sure designs are working correctly on BOTH mobile and desktop.
– Making sure that multiple browsers display designs properly on Chrome, Safari, Edge, Explorer, FireFox, etc.

6. WordPress Website & Blog Maintenance
– Updating website content on existing pages, such as changing text, images, layouts, etc.
– Blog management: Creating, updating, and managing a blog on WordPress, including adding images, text, SEO tags/descriptions/titles, etc.

– Must be VERY collaborative, provide new ideas, ask for feedback, and be flexible when it comes to working with the agency’s team.
– The client is looking for someone to truly be “part of the team”.
– Ideally looking for someone who is also organized, and knows how to plan their work, add deadlines for his/her work deliverables, can request meetings to discuss ideas/projects, etc.
